ACWC concludes successful visit to the US, 25 April 2012

A study visit to the United States from 18-25 April 2012 was concluded by the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children with the support of the ASEAN-U.S.

The ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC) convened a Consultative Meeting with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General on Violence against Children (SRSG-VAC) and CEDAW Committee experts on violence against women in Manila, the Philippines, on 16-17 January 2012. The Consultation was supported by UN Women and UNICEF.

Women and Children Rights get Spotlight in ASEAN

The promotion and protection of the human rights and fundamental freedoms of women and children in ASEAN step forward today as the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC) met for the first time. The ACWC seeks to promote the well-being, development, empowerment and participation of women and children in the ASEAN Community building process. It would also promote public awareness and education of their rights.
